Emotional Intelligence and its importance?

Most people,when they heard the word 'intelligence',usually refer to academic excellence. This is perhaps because they don't know better. Being intelligent is not synonymous to being brilliant-- it doesn't matter whether you go to school or not. However, if one is intelligent, it can really help to boast one's academic prowess. This is why some non educated parents whose children are very brilliant academically because they are intelligent, which is transferable from parents to their offspring. Apart from 'mental intelligence', the notion of 'Emotional Intelligence' calls for attention from the stakeholders in our psychology departments.  Emotional intelligence is one's degree of understanding the world around occurrences and on which one attend to in ways that suggest maturity or otherwise.
